Installation of the first « Win’Air Challenge » sensors in schools

This summer, the Cerema team worked alongside Zaack on the initial installation of sensors in the schools taking part in the Win’Air Challenge. This year, 20 schools across the Hauts-de-France, Wallonia and Flanders regions will be testing their indoor air quality.

The sensors will measure pollutant levels and indoor air comfort parameters in the participating classrooms. We will use these measurements to assess the benefits of the awareness-raising campaign and to draw up the Challenge rankings in (did you put two?) three categories:

• The best indoor air quality over the year
• The greatest improvement in indoor air quality
• The best communication initiative to raise awareness amongst other classes in the school, and possibly also amongst families.

An initial workshop (≈ 1 hour between September and December 2026) will focus on raising awareness of indoor air quality, using appropriate educational materials. Each class will receive an educational kit containing a sensor, access to real-time monitoring of indoor air quality trends, and a tool for recording their impressions of the classroom’s indoor air quality. This will enable pupils to work towards improving their indoor air quality over the course of the year.
