Challeng’Air: fresh air, clear ideas, top-notch class
Winner of the AQACIA (Improving Air Quality: Understanding, Innovating, Taking Action) call for projects led by ADEME, the Challeng'Air project, piloted by Cerema, offers an innovative approach to raising awareness among students about indoor air quality (IAQ) in a sustainable way. Aimed at pupils in Years 5 to 9 (4th year of primary school to 3rd year of secondary school in Belgium), this fun, educational and completely free programme is based on an inter-class challenge format, designed to arouse curiosity, encourage participation and drive profound behavioural changes around IAQ.
The project, which covers the Greater South-West region, will run for 36 months, until September 2027, with several key stages: an observation and diagnosis phase during the first year, followed by the installation of sensors and purifiers in classrooms from the second year onwards, and an analysis and synthesis phase in year three.
